Picture it, it’s summer 1984, and Pizza Hut launched the BOOKIT! Program. Where PreK-6th graders can read five books, earning a star sticker for each, and when you finished collecting those stickers, and verified this information either at the library or your classroom, you were rewarded with a gift certificate for a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut! Pizza rewards for reading? Sign me up!
I can still remember going to my local Pizza Hut, in Gilbert, Arizona, on Gilbert and Baseline Roads to cash that certificate in!
Fast forward to 2026, in a world full of AI slop, hashtags, influencers, IPads, and too much technology. This is not that— this is a simple space to post book reports written by adult Anne, about books I read in the 1980’s-1990’s.
I either found these books at thrift stores, or bought them from ThriftBooks. I own them all, and promise I reread them.
Buckle up friends, there are a lot of WEIRD, and creepy young adult, and children’s books.
